FAQ

What kind of batteries does a drone use?

Most drones use lithium-ion batteries. A typical drone runs on between 3 and 6-volts.

What US states do drones are legal in?

You can legally fly a drone for personal use. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has established guidelines that allow the use of small unmanned aircraft systems (UASs). These UASs must be registered with the FAA before they can be flown. The FAA also allows commercial operators to fly these devices if certain conditions are met.

Are you interested in flying with a drone while on the road?

Drones are becoming more popular, both for personal and business purposes. They are used for video, filming aerial mapping, search &rescue, and many other purposes. A number of new regulations have been approved by the FAA for drones. These include registration, licensing, pilot training and insurance. These changes will ensure that drones continue to be safe for all.

Do I need any special training to fly drones?

How to Fly Drones for Beginners

A drone is a remote-controlled aircraft used for aerial photography, cinematography, surveillance, scientific research, and hobby purposes. Drone technology has existed since World War II. However, commercial use began in 2010 when DJI released their Phantom series of quadcopters. Many types of drones have been made available since then, from beginner-friendly models such as the Parrot AR Drone 2.0, to high-end multi-rotor craft such as the DJI Mavic Pro.

You can fly a drone in many different ways, including:

  1. Remote control – This technique uses a control device attached directly to your hands that allows you steer the drone around its flight path. There are two main types of controllers: On/Off switches (like a radio) and joysticks.
  2. Manual Control - This method uses a smartphone app to remotely control the drone using GPS coordinates. You must keep track of the location where you want the drone to go and follow the instructions from the app.
  3. Autonomous flight - The drone takes over the piloting duties. The drone is able to fly autonomously, without the need for human intervention. The drone must be equipped with a camera and sensors that can capture images and data in order to fly autonomously.
  4. Triggered Flying - This method works in the same way as manual control. However, the pilot has to manually set up a route for the drone and it follows that route until reaching the endpoint. The drone automatically lands once the route has been completed and returns to the base.
  5. Landing Gear- Some drones include landing gear that allows for safe landing if the power goes out or they run out of batteries.
  6. Goggles - Some pilots wear goggles to protect themselves from debris while operating.
  7. Camera - Some drones can be equipped with cameras which enable you to capture photos from the sky.
  8. Obstacles. Some drones can have obstacle avoidance technology that stops them from hitting obstacles.
  9. Speed - Drones can reach speeds up to 40 mph.
  10. Battery Life - Most drones can last between 20 minutes to 3 hours, depending on how much power you're using.
  11. Range - Some drones can travel upto 30 miles depending on their models.
  12. Power source - Some drones need an external power source, while others use internal batteries.
  13. Weight - Some drones are lighter than others, while some models can weigh as much as 4 pounds.
  14. Size - The size of drones varies from small, easily carried devices to more substantial crafts that weigh in excess of 50 pounds.
  15. Price - All drones fall within a specific price range, from high-end models that can cost thousands of dollars to lower-cost options starting at $100.
